Americans Will Eat 1.25 Billion Chicken Wings During the Super Bowl

Based on food sales, the Super Bowl is actually the second-biggest eating day of the year in the U.S.  Only Thanksgiving is bigger.  The Super Bowl beats out Christmas, the Fourth of July, New Year’s Eve, Flag Day . . . all of ‘em.

 

–And according to new estimates, Americans will eat more than 1.25 BILLION CHICKEN WINGS during the game.

 

 

–Based on the approximately 111 million people who watched the game last year, that would be over 11 wings per person.

 

 

–That many chicken wings weighs over 100 MILLION POUNDS, and could be laid end to end to circle the Earth TWICE.

 

 

–And . . . wings aren’t even the most popular Super Bowl food.  Dips are number one.  Chicken wings are number two, pizza and potato chips tie for number three.

 

 

–The average Super Bowl party host will spend between $50 and $100 on food for their party.  38% will spend under $50, 12% will spend over $100.

 

 

34% of people going to Super Bowl parties say they really don’t care about the game, and are just there for the party and the food.
