John Maynard, half of the Robin and Maynard team has been in radio for, well, a few years. We talk about his time at KJRB in Spokane, KJR AM, KXRX, KZOK, and The Buzz 100.7.

John Maynard started working in radio in the seventies as a DJ at Seattle’s KJR AM which at the time was the dominant AM station in the Seattle market. After a brief stint as a restaurateur and night club owner, Maynard returned to radio with Robin Erickson, creating the hugely popular “Robin and Maynard Show.” In the more than 20 years under that marquee, Maynard flew with the Blue Angels, piloted the Goodyear Blimp, sang with Donny Osmond and hung out in a Universal Studios bar with Kojak (Telly Savalas).

Roy Otis may or may not have made an appearance. Enjoy!

Groz and Gas! I found a couple of Seattle radio legends who are reuniting for the first time in 4 years. Dave Grosby and Mike Gastineau did a show together for 14 years. They have just a couple of stories to tell about their time in radio.

Mark “in the Dark” Allan and music by The Hollers. For those of you in Seattle in the mid to late 80′s, then you definitely remember listening to Mark in the Dark Allan from KPLZ.  He stopped by to chat with us about radio in Seattle in the 80′s, dining with stars, where the name came from, and even the Moment of Mush.  Perhaps he even humored us with a 2014 version.  Listen and find out.

Also, the band The Hollers stopped by to play a couple songs for us.  You can get all the info on their gigs at https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Hollers/694450990575510.
